The Switch is one of Nintendo's most successful consoles in the company's history.

Touting an incredible line of exclusive titles, and giving players the ability to play all of their games on the go, the company really nailed their latest attempt in the console wars, and while they may not have won, they've definitely put in the work to bring fans back around for the next run.

Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and more are part of the console's wide range of incredible titles.

One of Nintendo's top-selling games, Mario Maker, released back in 2015 on the Wii U, allowed fans to do something they'd always wanted to do; make their own levels for the legendary plumber to traverse.

Players were able to take courses based on Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros. U, allowing players to use different enemies, traps, and physics from each title.

It was an instant hit, and by May 2016, had over seven million courses created across the globe, with over six hundred million plays. As of March 2018, it had sold four million copies.

With numbers like that, it's not shocking to see that Nintendo would want to capitalize and bring fans an even better experience with a sequel, and that's exactly what they plan on doing.

During today's Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that they'd be releasing Super Mario Maker 2 later this year, finally bringing the experience to their latest console, the Switch.
