Overwatch is back with their third Lunar New Year event, the first one in 2017. Along with the new Lunar Year skins, players can also get the old Lunar New Year skins from the events that were held in 2019. Previous emotes and sprays, along with some new ones are also available. The event will be live from 24 January to 8 February.
The Lunar New Year event is themed around Chinese culture. The skins released for the game are usually based on real-life Chinese historical figures. The Lunar New Year calendar is based on the real calendar, with this year having the "Year of the Pig" theme. There is also a special arcade event which is a Capture the Flag on a decorated Busan map.
Overwatch releases regular events throughout the year, including Winter Wonderland and Summer Games. They also recently started small time events, with a recent one featuring Ana and a unique skin.
There were also some changes to heroes such as Reaper, Brigitte, D.va, Soldier 76 and Reinhardt. Here are the balance changes for the heroes:
Reaper: Lifesteal from Damage increased from 30% to 50%
Brigitte: Armour will now decay 30 seconds after activating Rally
D.va: Defense Matrix cooldown increased from 1 second to 2 seconds
Soldier 76: Heavy Pulse Rifle will now do 16 damage per shot to armored opponents, up from 14
Reinhardt: Armour reworked. -5 Damage Above 10 reduced to -3 Damage Above 6.
The Year of the Pig event is live now on Overwatch servers, so you can snag the skins as well as play the special event right away.
