Red Dead Online: New Red Dead Online Update includes Free Gold for Players

Red Dead Redemption 2's online component, cleverly named Red Dead Online, is still in Beta mode, meaning that things are still being tinkered with. Today, Rockstar announced some of that tinkering in their heavily promoted Gun Rush mode, as well as thanking players who have helped them with a reward of gold.

Not real gold, obviously. I know GTA Online has made a lot of money, but still...

Gun Rush, RDO's version of a Battle Royale mode, has seen some progress over the short time it was introduced. Rockstar has "identified a few matchmaking issues, some of which... have [been] addressed with short-term improvements." Furthermore, they are working on "more permanent and proper fixes for in the longer term" with each update.

If you have any problems while playing Gun Rush, the Feedback page now has a dedicated section for that mode specifically. Rockstar is counting on the 32-player kill-or-be-killed battle mode to be a big seller for RDO - in hopes of competing with the likes of Fortnite and PUBG - and welcome all the feedback they can get to improve it.

Jumping on RDO any time between today and January 27th can snag themselves 5 free gold bars, which can be used for in-game purchases. While it has seen improvements, the online mode's economy is still the subject of heavy criticism, with complaints ranging from it still being unbalanced to even accusations of it being "purposefully broken."

As for what they're working on in the future, Rockstar has announced they've got their focus on "fixes, changes and improvements to the game based on player feedback." These include Parley changes and a new "Freeroam" dynamic between bounty hunters and those dastardly criminals they're going after. They also plan to implement some daily challenges to help players get more of that sweet, sweet gold.

Are you playing Red Dead Online? Are you looking forward to these improvements? What are you going to spend your gold on? Me? I like hats. Tell us what you think down below.
