Red Dead Online has only been around for a month and a half, but already some users have begun to complain that there's not much left to do. Well, among other things. Let's be honest, 'people gonna complain'. Anyway, today Rockstar games announced some new updates to the online mode that should get fans excited.

Gun Rush, for those who were wondering, is a new mode "where you’ll put your survival instincts to the test, gathering weapons and ammunition while the play area shrinks... [and] the last one standing wins. 32 players [can] play now in Free-for-all and Team variations." So, basically, it's just another way of saying "Battle Royale" with cowboys. Which, don't get us wrong, actually sounds pretty fun.

There's also some new changes including new races, showdown modes, clothes and emotes as well as improvements to daily challenges, parley and bounty upgrades.

Of course, since they announced this on Twitter, the complaints wasted no time in coming out of the woodwork.

Still, Rockstar does have its defenders...

The company also announced additions to Red Dead Online that are coming up in the near future, such as.

  • All-new missions to build on your Story in A Land Of Opportunities – from previously established characters like Horley and Jessica LeClerk, and some new ones as well.
  • A range of Dynamic Events throughout the world
  • Lots of new competitive modes including new Showdown Modes and Races
  • Plus new weapons and clothing, and lots more that we’re not quite ready to announce just yet…

If you're playing the Red Dead Online Beta on the Xbox One, you'll also have access to the Red Chestnut Arabian Horse, Alligator Skin Ranch Cutter Saddle and the High Roller Double-Action Revolver. So that's cool.
