StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void closed beta to commence by end of March

Legacy of the Void is a stand alone expansion

Get your Zerg armies ready, as StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void closed beta will be commencing by the end of this month. Blizzard has announced that that it will now begin sending out invites for the closed beta phase. The studio has also uploaded a video previewing the beta, in which it states that “much has changed” since the games initial reveal at BlizzCon last year.

Since this is a beta version, it will be lacking a few elements of the original game. Thankfully the Archon Mode will still be available for players to try out. Announced last year, the Archon Mode will allow two players to share control of a single base and unit.

The closed beta preview video gives us a ton of new information on the changes made to the game, such as the in-game economy, which has now been altered to provide resource advantages for players who consistently expand and defend their bases. The accuracy of attack commands for units has also been increased, making combat much more reliable than before. There have also been some changes and additions made to the games three forces, namely Zerg, Terran and Protoss.

Here is Blizzards statement on the closed beta:

"As you are likely aware, we’ve been trying to be as open as possible with the status of our development, and strongly believe that the increased cooperation between developers and players is beneficial to StarCraft II. To be clear, our goal for this expansion is to work together with all of you to make Legacy of the Void as awesome as possible."

Blizzard hopes that the early closed beta test will help them maximize user feedback. The beta will also run longer than usual. Invitations for the closed beta will begin going by the end of March.
