In a night full of surprises and jaw-dropping announcements, Nintendo Direct event was an incredible success with the fans of the console receiving more insight and news about their favourite Nintendo titles coming this year and beyond.

The biggest surprise of them all was probably the announcement of 1993 classic, The Legend of Zelda game called Link's Awakening which is making its way to Nintendo Switch sometime this year.

If you guys didn't know, Link's Awakening is the fourth game in this long-running iconic RPG series and the first title to be released on the handheld devices back in the day on Game Boy and then again on Game Boy Colour in 1998.

About the story, the game is set on the island of Koholint and is one of the very few Zelda titles to be set aside from the world of Hyrule. The story starts with Link travelling the seas looking for adventure gets stuck in a raging storm leading to his ship being wreaked and he ends up on the shores of Koholint Island.

Nintendo is calling the game a "reimagining" of the 1993 version which is a very common term these days in the video game industry with Resident Evil 2 being the most recent game to receive this treatment.

Anyways, the game will supposedly retain the top-down camera angle and side-scrolling attribute from the original but will feature 3D model characters which are pretty much clear from the stunning recreation of one of the cutscenes of the game in the reveal trailer the last night.

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening still doesn't have a release date but seeing the overall hype for the game, it is very possible that this will be Nintendo's big holiday title this year.
