The journey for Skytou studio’s sister concern Skyesports began when they announced on 3rd Jan that there will be an esports championship coming on 23rd and 24th of March in Phoenix market city, Chennai.

Subsequent tweets and posts revealed the partners and sponsors for the event which includes industry biggies including Nippon paint, Monster Energy, ACT broadband. After a month of preparation to one of the most awaited multi titled esports event of Chennai, they are ready to host the big LAN finale coming weekend at phoenix market city.

Initially touted to be a mix of PC and Mobile tournament, Skyesports succumbed to the sheer pressure of giving in to the mobile gamers nerd screams from throughout the city. The updated mobile titles are PUBG Mobile, Clash Royale and WCC Rivals cricket. When asked about PCMR, we got an instant reply, PCMR will have their own championship at the latest, for which we were more than happy. Who doesn’t love PC tournaments?

PUBG Mobile saw a Chennai record as the registered squads for the online qualifiers crossed a massive 750. Yes, you read that right. Esports veterans of the city confirm there hasn’t been many events in the past which can boast of a number like this. Eventually, over a period of six weeks and rigorous online league match drills, 750 squads were reduced to 42 last weekend, with some hilarious and fun casting from MidFail, a Chennai favorite PUGB Mobile player/streamer.

These 42 teams are about to contest in the LAN finale, which includes a semifinal round and the final on Sunday evening. We’re as excited as you are to find out who is going to take the lion’s share of the prize pool of 3 lakh INR!

Clash Royale has seen a record number of registration again for the city which has crossed a 280 players from various parts of the city. A sneak peek reveals there will be round robin based single elimination from which top 8 players advance to the finals on Sunday. No, we never reported this! CR includes a prize pool of 1 Lakh INR

The surprise entry to the tournament and the first ever multi-player mobile cricket game in the world is the WCC- Rivals. The much acclaimed in-house developers of Chennai have churned out a fabulous cricket game which makes us yearn for more! The game will be played as 1v1 and is expected to draw in crowd more than the other 2 events, as there is going to be spot registration and immediate slot draws.

The actual tournament format has not been shared, However, it is going to be a great show is what has been promised. Spot registrations and the number of participants are expected to grow as the day progresses and the finals will be played as double eliminations on Sunday eve with at least 8 players if not more, depending on the footfall!

Skyesports Championship will begin proceedings late afternoon from Saturday in phoenix market city till late night, Then to be continued on Sunday going late into the night concluding with the prize distribution.
