Titanfall: EA and Respawn say there will be a "Premium" Titanfall released this year

EA and Respawn recently released the free-to-play Battle Royale, Apex Legends. It is too early to say if Apex Legends will be a strong competitor to Fortnite or PUBG, but players who have actively played and followed the Titanfall series are excited.

The Titanfall series is a futuristic first person shooter which utilizes big, robotic mechanical suits called "Titans". The last release in the series was Titanfall 2 in 2016, and players have been waiting for a Titanfall 3 because of how good the series is.

EA and Respawn announced Apex Legends this week, but many players were expecting a Titanfall 3 announcement. Apex Legends has gotten over a million players in the first 8 hours. According to Respawn CEO, Vince Zampella in a recent tweet, he has confirmed that there will be more Titanfall later this year.

EA Games also had a quarterly earnings call, in which they have mentioned that there will be a "Premium" Titanfall this year. We can't expect another free-to-play game since it will be a "Premium" game, but players are hoping that it's the much anticipated Titanfall 3.

Of course, for now, it is just speculation based on what Vince Zampella has told us. Maybe Respawn wants to just expand on the Titanfall universe. It could be anything from a comic book, a mobile game, an expansion to Apex Legends, a spin-off game or Titanfall 3 itself.

What we do know is that Respawn has done an incredible job with their games so far. EA did not have much of a say in Respawn's development projects, so they had a lot of creative freedom to come up with their games. Sometime last year, PC Gamer confirmed that Respawn will be working on multiple titles related to Titanfall, which will release this year in 2019.
