Bandai Namco has announced another Dragon Ball game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game is a successor to 2016's Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and 2018's Dragon Ball FighterZ. Titled Dragon Ball Game: Project Z, the title seems like it will be a take on the original sagas of the beloved Dragon Ball Z series.

For the first time in a long time, the game will be an action RPG as suggested in the title. Dragon Ball Game Project Z is being developed by CyberConnect2, who also developed an RPG game for Naruto Shippuden earlier. The game will feature both Japanese and English voice overs.

The trailer revealed the classic line up of Dragon Ball Z characters such as Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Frieza, Krillin and some other notable characters. For now, they have not given any more details and there is no information or specifics about gameplay yet. We also don't know if they are extending the story all the way until the Buu Saga or ending it at the Frieza saga.

Dragon Ball Game Project Z looks like it is an indirect spiritual successor to the classic Gameboy Advance game "Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku". In the Legacy of Goku, you played as Goku following the story where you had to defeat Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta and then travel on to Namek to get the Dragon Balls and eventually fight Frieza.

The Legacy of Goku had two sequels: The Legacy of Goku II (which followed the Android & Cell Saga) and Buu's Fury (which followed the final era, Majin Buu's story). In these games, you could play as different characters such as Piccolo, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, Goten and a few others.

Although the Dragon Ball Z story has been done multiple times over the years, hopefully, the updated graphics and anything new Bandai Namco might add could make this an exciting release to look forward to.
