What happens when a technician cannot install an upgrade in Stalker 2?

Stalker 2 is an open-world title, unlike the previous games. As you explore the world, you will stumble upon some powerful weapons in Stalker 2 that can provide an edge over the anomalies present in the Zone. Moreover, you can also upgrade them to make them even stronger.

While you can upgrade and repair your weapons in Stalker 2 by simply visiting a technician, there are times when the "Technician cannot install the upgrade" message pops up. Here is how to upgrade your gear in such instances.

Who are technicians in Stalker 2?

Technicians are craftsmen who can repair or upgrade your weapons in Stalker 2 in return for in-game currency. The first technician that you will visit will be Lens, who can cater to your needs. Remember that each one has some limitations. Since Stalker 2 is an open-world game, if you go outside the mission area and explore, you will find some weapons that Lens won't be able to upgrade.

This is when you might encounter the "Technician cannot install the upgrade" message. However, you don't need to worry. In such cases, you can simply visit other technicians, preferably the one present in the same area where you found the weapon.

Make your way to another region and look for a technician to get your gear upgraded. However, you will first need to complete the Behind Seven Seals quest from the main storyline to be able to explore the open world.

After finishing the 'Behind Sevel Seals' quest, players will either unlock the 'Chemical Plant' region or the 'Garbage' region in the game. As you head to another region, you will find a technician at the base camp who will most likely be able to upgrade the weapons that Lens was not able to.
