World Of Warcraft ‘WoW Token’ to go online today

World Of Warcraft

There has been a lot of hype about the ‘WoW Token’ since early March when we reported on it. Now the new currency that was created to put an end to third-party gold trades and account compromises releases tomorrow forWorld Of Warcraft.

According to the update ‘WoW article’ posted by Blizzard, the token will be available from today, 7th April 2015. Here is what Blizzard had to say.

Update: The WoW Token will be going live in the Americas region (North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand) on April 7 when maintenance concludes, at approximately 10 a.m. PDT.

The WoW Token will be available for $20 USD/$25 AUD from the in-game Shop, and will be set at a starting price of 30,000 gold in the Auction House across the Americas region.

From that point forward, the gold price will automatically fluctuate based on player supply and demand. To start we’ll be limiting the number of Token purchases to 10 within a 30-day period, but this limit may be adjusted over time.

Tokens will be available immediately from the Shop, please note that there may be a delay before Tokens put up for sale on the Auction House become available for purchase with gold.

We’ll announce additional regional details closer to the launch of the WoW Token in other regions.”

All of this is sort-of great news, but considering that the WoW Token can be redeemed for 30-days ofWorld Of Warcraft game-time. Players can go and purchase game-time for $14.99 which comes with a 30 day subscription of World of Warcraft.

The main reason behind purchasing would be reselling it for massive lumps of gold on the new marketplace/Auction House. It is too soon to draw conclusions but, time will tell if this is a fruitful effort by Blizzard that fans will love, or a cheap cash-in.
