XBox news: We Happy Few, more coming to XBox Game Pass

XBox One's Game Pass service continues to be arguably the best value in gaming right now, and the latest upcoming additions just serve to show why. Last week saw the addition of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 - which was pretty generous of the, considering they could have saddled us with Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and that would have been just plain rude. And, the next few weeks stand to be just as fun.

Just a quick note: for those unfamiliar with Game Pass, it's Microsoft's monthly subscription gaming service that puts over 100 different games at your disposal. Rather than streaming, however, the big M allows gamers to download the titles directly to their hard drive, removing any bandwidth issues. So, as long as you have the service, you can play the games.

Game Pass is $10 a month, with the first month being a measly $1. Or whatever the currency is where you live. You'll have to figure it out. I'm bad at math.

Coming tomorrow, there's We Happy Few and The LEGO Movie Videogame.

We Happy Few is an interesting and ambitious title set in an alternate-1960s England where everyone takes a special drug to prevent them from feeling any sadness. Sort of like the movie Equilibrium, except with less gun-based karate and more colors. The LEGO Movie Videogame is pretty much what it sounds like - a videogame based on the hit 2014 movie of the same name. It's a LEGO game, though, and those are usually pretty reliable when it comes to having fun.

The 24th of January brings two classic open-world action titles to the service. The first being Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which was also released in 2014. It plays like a mix of Assassin's Creed and Batman: Arkham Asylum and set in the Lord of the Rings universe. If you've never played this before, this is the perfect time to get into it. It's phenomenal.

The second is Saints Row the Third, a series that started out as a Grand Theft Auto clone and morphed into something completely ridiculous. The Third shifts the setting from Stillwater to neighboring Steelport - though, if you've never played any of these games, that will mean absolutely zilch to you. Your custom created gang leader must rebuild the Saints, take over Steelport and get revenge in this over-the-top action masterpiece that also includes a ton of pro wrestling references, a great soundtrack, and Burt Reynolds. As himself!

Also worth noting is that Crackdown 3, which will release on February 15th and will be available on the Game Pass service on day one, is already available to pre-install onto your hard drive.
