After a highly entertaining start to the Quadrangular Series, hosts Oman try to redeem themselves as they take on a high-flying Netherlands side, full of confidence after coming out victors against Scotland.
Despite being considered as the outsiders coming into the tournament, Oman did give a good account of themselves against Ireland. They are capable of springing an upset in the remaining two games. The Netherlands, on the other hand, will look to sustain their momentum with another professional performance.
Squads to choose from:
Ajay Lalcheta (C), Khawar Ali, Wasim Ali, Fayyaz Butt, Aamir Kaleem, Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan, Mehran Khan, Naseem Khushi, Sufyan Mehmood, Mohammad Nadeem, Khurram Nawaz, Jay Odedra, Jatinder Singh
Stephan Myburgh, Ben Cooper, Wesley Barresi, Scott Edwards, Pieter Seelar(C), Ryan ten Doeschate, Roelof van der Merwe, Sikander Zulfiqar, Fred Klassen, Max O'Dowd, Timm van der Gugten, Tobias Visee, Shane Snater, and Paul van Meekeren
Playing XI Updates:
Oman was impressive in patches in their disheartening loss to the Irish with Bilal Khan troubling Paul Stirling and Kevin O'Brien early on. They should field the same side with much expectations on Khawar Ali and Jay Odedra to put in better performances against the Dutch. Mehran Khan wasn't able to contribute in the previous game but would be one to look out for with his ability to clear the ropes at will.
Possible XI: Khawar, Jatinder, Kaleem, Khurram, Nadeem, Mehran, Lalcheta(C), Naseem(WK), Fayyaz, Odedra, and Bilal.
No changes are expected of the Dutch after a brilliant all-round performance against Scotland. Tobias Visee and Stephan Myburgh will again be key for the Dutch after impressing in the first game. Their pace trio of Gugten, Klassen, and Snater were brilliant and with Van der Merwe and Seelar also in good form, they should enter this match as the firm favorites.
Possible XI: Visee, Myburgh, ten Doeschate, Baressi, O'Dowd, Seelar(C), Edwards(WK), van der Merwe, Gugten, Snater, and Klassen.
Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:
Wicket-keeper: Although both keepers bat deep down the order, Scott Edwards should nick it with his pinch-hitting abilities and superior skill behind the wicket although Naseem isn't that bad an option.
Batsmen: Stephan Myburgh and Tobias Visee put in a century stand and look in very good touch. Along with Oman opener, Jatinder Singh, the aforementioned duo are great options to have in the team. Either of Khurram Khan or Khawar Ali would also suffice in rounding off the batting department.
All-rounders: With a number of quality all-rounders available for the taking, Ryan ten Doeschate, Ajay Lalcheta, and Roelof van der Merwe are the preferred players to have in the team. Ten Doeschate is one of the best players to have donned the orange of the Netherlands and is in good form as well. Pieter Seelar is also an option with his all-round skill certain to have a say on Friday.
Bowlers: Two of Snater, Gugten, and Klassen would be very handy to have in the side with wickets their primary motto. Bilal Khan is a must have in the side with much expected of the tearaway pacer against the Dutch. Other options from the Omani bowling include Fayyaz Butt and Odreda too.
Captain: Stephan Myburgh played second fiddle to a rampant Tobias Visee last time out but should be backed to put in another good performance against Oman on Friday. Other options include the likes of Ten Doeschate, Seelar, and Lalcheta whose all-round abilities are impossible to ignore.
Fantasy Suggestion #1: Scott Edwards(WK), Stephan Myburgh, Wesley Barresi, Jatinder Singh, Khawar Ali, Ajay Lalcheta, Ryan Ten Doeschate, Roelof van der Merwe, Fred Klaassen, Shane Snater and Bilal Khan. Captain: Stephan Myburgh.
Fantasy Suggestion #2: Scott Edwards(WK), Tobias Visee, Stephan Myburgh, Jatinder Singh, Khurram Khan, Pieter Seelar, Roelof van der Merwe, Ajay Lalcheta, Bilal Khan, Fayyaz Butt and Timm van der Gugten. Captain: Pieter Seelar
