OSAKA, Japan (AFP) –

Four Continents figure skating championships men’s event winner Canada’s Kevin Reynolds is congratulated by spectators during the awards ceremony in Osaka on February 9, 2013. Reynolds took the men’s title at the championships in his first major international victory.

Canada’s Kevin Reynolds captured the men’s title at the Four Continents figure skating championships Saturday for his first major international victory.

Going out after placing sixth in the short programme overnight, the 22-year-old landed three quadruple jumps to top the free skating table and scored a total of 250.55 points.

Japan’s newly crowned national champion Yuzuru Hanyu finished second overall on 246.38 points, failing to keep up his lead from the short programme.

Yan Han, 16, who became the first Chinese man to become the world junior champion last year, was third on 235.22.
