Virtue, Moir lead Four Continents ice dance

Canada’s Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir perform their short dance routine at the Four Continents championships in Osaka on February 8, 2013. Virtue and Moir edged their US archrivals Meryl Davis and Charlie White in the short dance at the Four Continents championships Friday.

Olympic and world ice dance champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir of Canada edged their US archrivals Meryl Davis and Charlie White in the short dance at the Four Continents championships Friday.

Skating to “And The Waltz Goes On” by Anthony Hopkins and “Yankee Polka”, Virtue and Moir collected 75.12 points, with Davis and White, who beat the Canadian duo at the Grand Prix Final in December, trailing by 0.44 points.

Two other American couples followed with Madison Chock and Evan Bates in third spot on 65.44 and siblings Maia and Alex Shibutani fourth on 63.26.

Virtue and Moir beat Davis and White into second spot at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics as well as the world championships and the Four Continents last year.
