288 schools selected to participate in the second season of the STAIRS School Football League

The second edition if the league will see 32 all-girls teams as well

The Second season of STAIRS School football league (SSFL 2), India’s biggest school level football league organized by NGO STAIRS, has kick-started with 1000 schools registering for the event. Out of this, 288 schools have been able to make the cut by getting selected for the league.

STAIRS student football league 2 in its bigger and better avatar will see the participation of around 10,000 school children from the areas of Delhi-NCR. The rest of the schools could not qualify due to their inability to fulfill the criteria for participation, or failing to comply with the deadline for registration and incomplete paperwork.

The matches will be spread over a period of two-and-a-half months starting from 27th August 2015 till October 2015. This time SSFL 2 will also witness participation of 32 all girls team in two age groups of Under 14 and Under 17.

Speaking about SSFL 2, Mr. Siddhartha Upadhyay, Founder and Secretary General, STAIRS said: “STAIRS School Football League is an endeavor to pick up the talent from bottom of the pyramid and ensuring his or her inclusive growth. We aim to create a football ecosystem involving schools, footballers, Government, Federations and associations.”

“We are happy to see almost 30% participation from the Government schools. We will ensure every deserving child gets this opportunity. It is an out-and-out free of cost activity started by STAIRS foundation to encourage schools to become a part of this league,” he concluded.
