65th ID Cup: Assam Police blues sails to next round

In the 65th Independence Day Cup football at Nagaon, Assam Police Blues defeated New Model SC of Udalguri by 2-0. The oldest football tournament of North East India is organised by Nagaon Sports Association at Nurul Amin Stadium.

From the beginning both teams played defensively and the ball remained at midfield. In the first half both teams were busy defending their own fort. The first half remained goalless.

In the second half Policemen created some opportunity but the New Model custodian saved all their attacks. In the 68th minute of the match Mofidul Islam scored the first goal of the match by taking advantage of a lapse in the defence of New Model. After conceding the goal New Model tried hard to find the equaliser but they failed to do so. In the last minute of the match M Nangthoiba Singh scored another for Assam Police Blues to confirm their win.

Today Assam State Electricity Board FC will meet Jorhat Town Club.

34TH Amba Medhi Invitational Football:

Green Valley FC entered the last four stage of the 34TH Amba Medhi Invitational Football championship at Mangoldoi, Assam. They defeated Radial Club of Nagon by a score of 7-0.

Thomson Langthsa and G. Ronmei of Green Valley scored a hat-trick each. Langhthsa scored in the 5th, 29th and 37th minute of the match and Ronmei scored in the 47th, 55th and 66th minute of the match. M. Mushahary scored another goal for the team in the 63rd minute of the match.

Today FCI SC, Guwahati will meet Thulunga SC, Kokrajhar in another quarterfinal match.
