India - 'BLUE TIGERS: THE HOPE OF A NATION'

India will be making its fourth appearance in the AFC Asian Cup, with the last one coming on 2011. The onus will be on Sunil Chhetri and his comrades to carry forward the hope of the nation.

Bahrain - 'NEVER SAY NEVER'

Bahrain will be making their sixth appearance in the AFC Asian Cup. Barring the fourth-place finish in 2004, they have never been able to make it past the group stages.

Group B

Australia - 'HEROES WILL RISE'

The defending champions won their first-ever continental championships in 2015 when they hosted it. They will be looking forward to becoming the fourth team after South Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Japan to successfully retain the coveted title.

Syria - 'ONE TEAM. ONE NATION. ONE SYRIA'

The people of war-torn Syria has only one joy to cherish and that is football. It all comes down to the eleven players to give their countrymen a ray of hope.

Palestine - 'WE WILL TRIUMPH. WE ARE PALESTINE'

Palestine will be making their second appearance in the quadrennial extravaganza after being knocked out in the group stages of the 2015 Australia edition. With the tournament being held at their Middle-Eastern neighbors, the conditions should favor them.

Jordan - 'MAKE JORDAN PROUD'

Jordan came agonizingly close to making it to the FIFA World Cup after losing to the mighty Australians in the playoffs. They will love to take their revenge in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Group C

South Korea - 'WE ARE THE REDS'

The South Korean football team are distinctly known for knocking out defending champions Germany out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. They would love to come out of that moniker and prove that the victory was not a fluke when they cross swords with the Asian Giants.

China PR - 'FIGHTING FOR THE SAME DREAM'

After failing to find the back of the net against Qatar, Bahrain, and India, the Chinese strikers have found their form as they scored in 2-0 victory over Syria and a 1-1 draw against Palestine. The team would love to carry forward the form in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup.

Kyrgyzstan - 'THE WHITE FALCONS'

Kyrgyzstan qualified for the quadrennial extravaganza after finishing second in their group behind India. The White Falcons will try to make it count in their first-ever appearance.

Philippines - 'TO DREAM THE IMPOSSIBLE'

Like Kyrgyzstan, Philippines will also be making their first-ever appearance in the AFC Asian Cup. They may not be the favorites, but they can very well dream the impossible.

Group D

Iran - 'EIGHTY MILLION PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE HEARTBEAT'

Iran held Christiano Ronaldo's Portugal to a 1-1 draw in the FIFA World Cup. They would like to forget the fact that they couldn't make it to the knockouts and look to clinch their fourth Asian Cup title.

Iraq - 'LIONS ALWAYS PREVAIL'

Barring the 1972 Asian Cup, Iraq has always made it to the knockout stages. The 88th ranked nation will be raring to win their second title after they triumphed in 2007.

Vietnam - 'GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS'

Vietnam, or the Golden State Warriors as they are fondly called, will be making their second appearance. They reached the quarter-finals in their previous attempt at 2007 when they were the co-hosts. They will look forward to bettering themselves this time.

Yemen - 'NEVER GIVE UP'

The never-give-up attitude of Yemen ensured they qualified for the AFC Asian Cup for the very first time. In the continental extravaganza, they would look forward to come out of the shadows of their Arab cousins and qualify for the knockout phases.

Group E

Saudi Arabia - 'FROM THE DESERT TO THE THRONE OF THE CONTINENT'

Saudi Arabia defeated Mohammed Salah's Egypt in the 2018 FIFA World Cup before bowing out of the tournament. They would love to ride on that confidence in the Asian Cup.

Lebanon - 'THE CEDARS ARE COMING'

The Cedar in the national flag of Lebanon signifies immortality. Can Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and DPR Korea withstand the wrath of the Lebanese this January?

DPR Korea - 'IN THE SPIRIT OF CHOLLIMA'

Chollima is a winged horse in Chinese mythology known for its brisk movement. The opponents need to be wary of the Korean attackers who will have no mercy on them.

Group F

Japan - 'RESPECT ALL, FEAR NONE'

The Japanese are very respectful which can be understood from the fact that they cleaned their own locker room after bowing out of the FIFA World Cup. However, the opponents can't take it lightly as they show no mercy when they come out on the field.

Uzbekistan - 'HERE WE ARE UZBEKISTAN'

Since its independence in 1993, Uzbekistan has qualified for every edition of the Asian Cup, finishing fourth in 2011. The White Wolves are the favorites along with Japan to make it to the knockout stages.

Oman - '4 MILLION HEARTS, ONE DREAM'

Turkmenistan - 'GREEN GROUND, GREEN TEAM, GREEN TURKMENISTAN'

Turkmenistan will be making their second appearance in the AFC Asian Cup after being knocked out in the group stages of the 2004 edition. Yemen might be the only team ranked below them, but the opponents cannot take them lightly.
