AIFF’s Elite Academy wins 2-1 against Salgaocar Reserves

The AIFF’s Elite Academy comprising of the Indian boys’ Under-19 national team got the better of the Salgaocar FC Reserves 2-1 in a friendly match at the Duler ground in Mapusa on Saturday, September 7.

Daniel Lalhlimpuia (17th) and S.K. Faiaz (57th) scored on either side of the break to register yet another victory for the Under-19 boys. Salgaocar FC could only reduce the deficit in the 80th minute.

The U-19 boys were coming off a 4-0 victory over Goa Pro League side Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim in their previous friendly.

The colts, under head coach Colm Joseph Toal, had previously blanked the Chinese Under-17 National Team 6-0 and 4-0 respectively in an exposure trip to Shanghai ahead of the Under-19 AFC Championship qualifiers to be held in Doha next month.

The nucleus of the squad had represented India in the final phase of the Under-16 AFC Championship in 2012 in Tehran, Iran.
