BREAKING: Brandon Fernandes will not join Reading FC

Reading Football Club yesterday confirmed on their official website that Indian youngster Brandon Fernandes has completed his two-week trial at Hogwood Park and that they have decided to not sign him.

Fernandes is an Indian youth international on the books of South Africa team ASD Cape Town, and Director of Football Nick Hammond said, “Brandon is a fantastic young man and fitted in exceptionally well while he was here.

“Him training with the group gave us a really good opportunity to assess him, and while we won’t be pursuing things at this stage, we’ll continue to monitor his progress.

“I would very much like to thank Mike Steptoe and everyone at ASD Cape Town for helping facilitate his visit, and we wish Brandon the very best of his luck.”Two days ago, reports were that Reading FC offered the player $1 million, but his father, Jaju Fernandes denied the rumor saying his son has no clue about it.

“Brandon has done his best at Reading trials and we have not heard anything from Reading after the two-week trials there which ended yesterday. My son is now at Leicester City for another two-week trials. So we are having out fingers crossed and hoping for the best,” added Fernandes.

Leicester has a huge Indian population, and Fernandes was delighted to be introduced to the Melton Road area of the city earlier today. He described it as a ‘mini-India’, and enjoyed conversing with locals in his mother tongue of Hindi.
