Crystal Ball - Gameweek 3 Division 1 Preview

Action from Flipkart FC v Samba FC

The first two gameweeks saw the usual culprits in the thick of the action with Parikrma and Horizons winning both their games. Bengal has also been impressive but can they keep up their form? Gameweek 3 takes place on Nov 20 at FSV Arena.

8:00 AM – Samba FC v FC Bengal

The opening game on Sunday has Samba FC taking on Bengal in what looks to be a battle of defence against attack. Samba has been impressive in this new season finding a good attacking outlet to compliment their compact defence. Sufiyan Ahmed has now scored 4 goals in 2 games for them. Bengal also have been impressive winning both their games but they might have gotten a little lucky in their last game to come away with all three points against Kougen Kikou.

Players to watch: Zaheer PA (Samba FC), Ravinder Singh (FC Bengal)

Crystal Ball: Samba FC (1) – (2) FC Bengal

9:30 AM – FC Kougen Kikou v Yataghan Internazionale

The next game of the day features expat rivals Kougen Kikou taking on Yataghan, a game that is always an entertaining one. Both teams have their unique style they approach the league but at the end of the day what they draw upon the board will determine the result. Kougen Kikou threw away a 2 goal lead against Bengal to suffer consecutive losses while Yataghan were impressive against Rare Dare last week picking up three points.

Players to watch: Hiroki Akiyama (FC Kougen Kikou), Jerald Manoj (Yataghan Internazionale)

Crystal Ball: FC Kougen Kikou (1) – (1) Yataghan Internazionale

12:30 PM – Parikrma FC v Rare Dare FC

Next up, the defending champions Parikrma taking on Rare Dare FC. Parikrma were lethal last week against Mavericks and are slowly building up the goal difference once again, something that will come handy come end of the season. Rare Dare haven’t won this season yet but they started slowly last season as well before going on a good run in the second half of the season to finish fourth on the table. That run needs to start now though but coming up against Parikrma a point might be a good return.

Players to watch: Sunil Manjunath (Parikrma FC), Arjun Adiga (Rare Dare FC)

Crystal Ball: Parikrma FC (2) – (1) Rare Dare FC

5:00 PM – Mavericks FC v Supernova FC

The evening session of games kicks off with Mavericks FC taking on Supernova FC. Mavericks had a torrid time last weekend against Parikrma but can put that behind them with a good result here. Supernova also lost last weekend against title rivals Horizons and need to get back to winning ways if they are to keep pace with the league leaders. We expect Supernova to see this one through but Mavericks could just throw a spanner in the works.

Players to watch: Obul Reddy (Mavericks FC), James S (Supernova FC)

Crystal Ball: Mavericks FC (1) – (3) Supernova FC

6:30 PM – Gremio FC v Flipkart FC

The penultimate game of the day has Gremio taking on Flipkart. Gremio drew last week to Project 7, a game they would feel they should have won but the past is the past and they need to focus on picking up their first win of the season if they are to keep their hopes in finishing in the top three alive. Flipkart also haven’t won a game yet and will be on the hunt for that elusive win but the additions they have made over the offseason seem to be really good and its only a matter of time before the entire squad clicks together.

Players to watch: Gokul Krishnan (Gremio FC), Ravi Kiran (Flipkart FC)

Crystal Ball: Gremio FC (3) – (2) Flipkart FC

7:45 PM – Horizons FC v Project 7

The final game of the day has Horizons playing Project 7. Horizons look like a team that only has one thing on their mind – the title. For two seasons the coveted title has eluded them but they seem to be on track, after grinding out a 3-2 win against title rivals Supernova. Project 7 played out a hard fought game against Gremio last week to come away with a point but are still without a win. Both teams will look to attack but Project 7 need a plan to break Horizons defensive stronghold.

Players to watch: Rohan Menon (Horizons FC), Puneeth Gowda (Project 7)

Crystal Ball: Horizons FC (2) – (0) Project 7
