DSK Shivajians celebrate their equaliser against Mumbai FC in the U-19 I-League

Pune, 18th January, 2015: DSK Shivajians’ seventh match of the ongoing Under 19 I-League ended in a 1-1 draw against Mumbai FC, which ensured their qualification for the next round of the Under 19 I-League from the Maharashtra Zone.

DSK Shivajians went a goal down early, in the 9th minute, courtesy an outstanding shot from 20 yards out by Girik Khosla. DSK Shivajians were punished for their nervous defensive display in the opening exchanges of the match. The home team started keeping more of the ball in the wake of the goal.

In the 33rd minute, Mawihmingthang found the back of the net after a long spell of attacking play by DSK Shivajians after ball fell at his feet from a rebound. Terence found the captain with the initial ball from the right flank. The first half ended level, after both teams were vying for the ball in the middle of the park.

The second half started with intensity and intent with both the teams looking to get in front. DSK Shivajians mounted various attacks throughout the second half, hitting the bar twice.

The last ten minutes of the match saw DSK Shivajians hit their stride in attack as the home team created chance after chance, but to no avail.

The draw ensures their qualification to the next round of the Under 19 I-League. DSK Shivajians will be travelling to Mumbai for their final match of the Maharashtra Zone of U-19 I-League to face Kenkre FC on 24th January, 2015.
