India’s premier football club Pune FC has roped in Dutchman Mike Snoei as its new coach. He is set to replace Derrick Pereira at the Pune camp.

Snoei, a defender during his career, played at Feyenoord, Excelsior and Sparta Rotterdam. As a manager, he has worked with Sparta and Vitesse Arnhem among others.

“Pune FC wanted to be absolutely sure about the man who will continue with their ambitious project and after running their eye through Snoei’s bio-data, they were convinced,” a report by The Times of India quotes an insider.

Snoei holds some experience of working in Asia, as he had been an assistant to compatriot Henk Ten Cate in UAE, Qatar, and more recently, China. He is expected to be paid better than other coaches in the country, being a Uefa Pro License holder.

“Snoei was unsure about the India project, but it was Rob Baan who convinced him that it’s an interesting market which is starting to take off and has huge potential,” the insider at Pune FC is quoted as saying.
