FC Pune City confirm the signing of Tuncay Sanli

Tuncay has played over 500 matches for club and country

FC Pune City have signed Turkish striker Tuncay Sanli for the second season of the Indian Super League. The 33-year-old along with Romanian Adrian Mutu will make up a formidable strike force for Pune who struggled for goals in the last campaign.

Tuncay has played competitive football in three countries throughout his career. Having started his career in Turkey with Sakaryaspor in the second division of Turkish football, Tuncay soon attracted the attention of Turkish giants Fenerbahce. For the next five years, Tuncay played for the Sar? Kanaryalar scoring 59 goals in 154 league appearances and helping the team win three Super League titles.

Tuncay left his native country to join English Premier League side Middlesbrough. Following Middlesbrough’s relegation to the Championship, Tuncay had short spells with Stoke City, Wolfsburg and Bolton Wanderers before returning to the Super League with Bursaspor. For the last year, he has been playing football for Qatari side Umm Salal.

On the international level, Tuncay made 80 appearances for his country scoring 22 goals that included two hat tricks against Austria and Switzerland. He was a part of the Turkish side who made it to the semi-finals of the 2008 European Championships.

FC Pune City made the announcement on their official Twitter account.
