Amarjit Singh Kiyam is set to create history next month at the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The Manipuri lad will become the first footballer in history to captain an Indian team at a FIFA World Cup, the first of many similar records in the pipeline for Amarjit.

The 16-year-old midfielder hails from a family of farmers and here is a short video of the guy who will lead the country out in its first ever World Cup game against the USA on 6th October.

Here are the ten things to know about the India Colts' captain:

#1 Amarjit hails from Thoubal district of Manipur and has two siblings in his family apart from his parents.

#2 The midfielder was born on 6th January 2001.

#3 Amarjit's favourite Indian footballer is Udanta Singh, although he is also a fan of Bhaichung Bhutia.

#4 His international idol is Spanish legend Andres Iniesta, whose style he tries to follow.

#5 Amarjit favourite football clubs are NorthEast United, the ISL club from the northeastern part of India, and Barcelona, the Spanish giants.

#6 Although he is a fan of FC Barcelona, Amarjit's favourite city is Madrid and his favourite cuisine is Manipuri.

#7 Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif rank among Amarjit's favourite celebrities, while Pushpa Rani is his preferred singer and Mary Kom ranks on top of his favourite movies' list.

#8 Apart from playing football, Amarjit also retains an interest in hairdressing.

#9 He scored India's only goal against Mexico in their 5-1 loss in the exposure trip to the North America country.

#10 He will become the first Indian to captain a team at any FIFA event, age-group or senior level.
