What's the story?

India will be hosting FIFA Under-17 World Cup from October 6th to October 26th across the country. It is the first time such a big event is hosted in India, and as a piece of good news to all Indian viewers, DD Sports will be telecasting the Under-17 World Cup matches on the channel.

Sony Pictures Networks India had won the exclusive rights to broadcast in India FIFA events up to the 2018 World Cup. It had also won the exclusive broadcast rights for all of FIFA’s international events. That includes 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament as well as the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held next month in India. Sony Pictures Networks India also has the broadcast rights for the tournament throughout the subcontinent.

In a happy news to all sports fans across the country, DD Sports have announced that the broadcast rights for U-17 World Cup have been shared with Prasar Bharati, which is the parent company of DD Sports, a state-owned channel.

A tweet by Doordarshan Sports' official handle read "Dear viewers we have a good news for you all. FIFA U17 World Cup rights will be shared with @prasarbharati and will be telecast on DD Sports"

They have also tweeted that all the U-17 World Cup matches will be telecast on DD Sports
