With the FIFA U-17 World Cup just around the corner, a sense of unease had started pervading through the Indian footballing community regarding the receipt of tickets. While online booking of tickets for the showpiece event in India started a long time back, those in the purchasing party are yet to receive the physical copies of their tickets.

However, FIFA has now intervened and allayed any fears over delays in a statement published on the U-17 World Cup's official Facebook page earlier today.

A statement on the official FIFA U-17 World Cup Facebook page read: "UPDATED: Dear fans in India. The ticketing agency has started to courier tickets, and you should receive them 3-4 days before the match you booked for. If you booked multiple tickets at the same time, they should be delivered together. If you did not choose the courier option, you can redeem your tickets from the Stadium Box Offices from 27 September onwards. For those who still have not booked, the 25% discount lasts only until 5 October."

This will go a long way in clearing the air over the tickets for India's once-in-a-lifetime event. With the World Cup only a fortnight away, Indian football fans can now rest assured that their tickets are on the way and a month of never-before-seen football action in India awaits them.

The U-17 World Cup kicks into action on 6th October and the opening day will see hosts India square off to the USA. That match aside, three other matches are also scheduled for the opening day with two to be held at New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium.

Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium will host the final of the tournament, slated for the 28th of October. For what promises to be a month of great global footballing action in India, the latest announcement will certainly reduce the unease and amp up the enthusiasm.
