What's the story?

It has been four years since the ISL has started. Over the years, we have witnessed numerous, former Premier League players plying their trade in it. We saw a plethora of Premier League players this season too. Manchester United legends like Dimitar Berbatov, Wes Brown etc played for KBFC this season. Elsewhere, former Tottenham star Robbie Keane was the marquee signing of ATK.

However, no player has ever had the opportunity to play in the renowned Premier League after playing in the ISL. Former Kerala Blasters attacker and Haitian International Duckens Nazon could well script history if he stays at his parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers next season.

In Case You Didn't Know

In the third season of ISL, Duckens Nazon was in the Kerala Blasters' roster. The Haitian was a vital figure in the team and featured in 12 games. He also managed to score twice for the Tuskers.

Heart of the matter

After his ISL stint, Duckens Nazon joined English outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves then sent him to Coventry City on a loan deal. The attacker impressed by scoring six goals in 21 matches. After that, Wolves loaned him to Oldham Athletic until the end of the season. The Haitian has already bagged four goals to his name while featuring in 11 games.

He will be returning to the Wolves squad next season. As Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured their promotion to English Premier League, Duckens Nazon could become the first player to feature in the Premier League after playing ISL.

What's Next?

Oldham has three matches remaining in the EFL, third tier league in English Football System. Nazon has a contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers until 2019 and if he stays at the club, he could feature in the Premier League next season.

Author's take

This is really promising. This signals the change in trend to sign veteran foreigners. ISL should rely on more young foreigners than on veterans, who're failing to impress.
