Goa CM wants players from state to represent Indian national team

Citing the passion that Goans have for football, the Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Manohar Parrikar has stated that he would like to see half the Indian national football team filled with players from the state. With this objective, the Goa government has declared that the game of football is the official sport of the state.

Along with this declaration, the Chief Minister has also announced a 5 crore rupee grant to the Goa Football Development Council (G.F.D.C), which is being run under the aegis of Dr. Rufino Monteiro, who is a known football enthusiast. As part of this, a Goa Football Policy Draft was also signed, which aims to improve the state of football in Goa and take steps to bring out skilled and talented players who can represent the nation.
