Goa Pro League: Dempo SC overcome Sesa Football Academy 2-1

The Goa Super League continued with former champions Dempo SC beating the youngsters from Sesa Football Academy 2-1 at the Duler ground in Mapusa on Sunday afternoon.

With the win Dempo SC moved to 20 points from 10 matches to stay as third in the title race, five points behind Sporting Clube de Goa and three matches to play; while Sesa Football Academy stay fifth on 13 points from 11 matches.

It was an even game early on until Dempo SC took the lead in the 18th minute when Alwyn George set-up youngster Mandar Rao Dessai and he blasted a left-footer past Thokchom Roshan Singh into the Sesa Football Academy goal. It remained 1-0 for Dempo at the break.

In the second session once more both sides had their chances, but Dempo SC doubled their lead through Jewel Raja Sheikh’s strike in the 68th minute, but the Sesa Football Academy reduced the deficit only five minutes later of a goal from substitute striker Chukwudi Chukwuma off a Yogesh Gopal Kadam cross.

Towards the end of the game, the Sesa Football Academy were pressing for the equaliser but Dempo would not concede another goal with the match ending 2-1 in favour of Dempo SC.
