Goa Pro League: Dempo SC thrash Margao SC 6-0

Fulham v Arsenal - Premier League

Former champions Dempo SC thrashed bottom of the table Margao SC 6-0 in a Goa Pro League match at the Duler ground in Mapusa yesterday afternoon. Youngsters Myron Fernandes and Romeo Fernandes both scored a brace, while the two other goals came from foreigners Roberto Mendes Silva and Billy Mehmet.

Dempo SC moved into the top four of the Goa Pro League with seven points from four matches, while Margao SC continued their dismal run having been thrashed on four occasions with no points at all.

Dempo SC took time to settle down and surprisingly, Margao held their more famed rivals to a goalless draw at the breather though Dempo had numerous chances to go ahead.

Things changed in the 64th minute with substitute striker Myron Fernandes giving Dempo the lead through a header and then Margao just collapsed after having fought their hearts out against a superior side.

The lead was doubled by Roberto Mendes Silva in the 70th minute with another header before Romeo Fernandes made it 3-0 in the 72nd minute and Myron scored his second of the day in the 76th minute.

But it wasn’t over yet, as Dempo would add two more goals before the end of the match. First, Romeo made it 5-0 in the 80th minute with a well-placed shot, while Billy Mehmet made it 6-0 in the 83rd minute to finish off the rout.
