Captain marvel, Joseph Pereira scored a sublime brace to send Sporting Clube de Goa to the top of the GPL table with a classy 2-0 victory over Sesa Football Academy in the Goa Super League at the Duler ground in Mapusa on Friday afternoon. Sporting Goa led 1-0 at the lemon break.

Sporting Goa has Victorino Fernandes and Dawson Fernandes away on international duty, while foreigners Ogba Kalu and Arturo Garcia still injured, so coach Oscar Bruzon had to use other players to make-up his starting eleven.

Joseph opened the scoring for the Flaming Oranje after just 14 minutes when he easily tapped in after receiving a sweeping cut back from Jerry. Just before the breather, Sporting Goa had a golden chance to double the lead when Rojen Singh chipped the ball into the danger area, which was headed on by Gonzalo Neila and substitute Velito Cruz saw his first touch of the game wonderfully parried by the Sesa custodian.

In the second session the tempo of the game reduced slightly, with Sporting Goa beginning to take the upper hand. With twenty minutes left on the clock, Jerry played to veteran Joseph and he buried the ball into the back of the net to complete his brace.
