Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan have released their star forward Ansumana Kromah, after the Liberian exhibited a string of poor performances in the I-League this season.

Kromah's poor performances have coincided with a number of poor results for the Kolkata side, which has managed just one win in their last six matches.

The culmination of Kromah's departure from the Green and Maroon camp came to fruition after they suffered a 3-1 loss to I-League leaders Minerva Punjab at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium, on Wednesday night.

The club confirmed that they have parted ways with their Liberian forward, who has scored just two goals in eight matches this season.

"Mohun Bagan have parted ways with Mr Ghanefo Ansumana Kromah. The Club and player have agreed on a mutual separation today (Thursday)," said the club in an official statement. "We wish the player all the best for his future endeavours."

This comes as yet another departure from the Mohun Bagan camp, after the likes of midfielder Diogo Ferreira and former manager Sanjoy Sen left earlier this season.

Interestingly, this is the second departure in as many weeks for the club, as Sen announced his resignation as the head coach of the Mariners in dramatic fashion after they suffered their first loss of the season against strugglers Chennai City FC.

Sen's former assistant Shankarlal Chakraborty has taken over as the head coach since then.
