'Tutu' Bose has been an influential figure in the club's rich history

Mohun Bagan, which was a Private Limited Company till now, is likely to be converted to a Public Limited Company in the near future as addressed by President Swapan Sadhan Bose during a press conference at his residence in Hungerford Street on Friday evening. Debashish Dutta and Srinjoy Bose, who earlier resigned from their posts, have withdrawn their resignations due to various reasons.

A two-hour long meeting among the core members of the management took place in the evening which involved all the big shots of the century-old club including the President Swapan Sadhan Bose, Secretary Anjan Mitra, Debashish Dutta, Srinjoy Bose and Sohinee Bose. At the end of the meet, some surprising inferences cropped up which could set the tone for the club in the future.

As per a proposal by Secretary Anjan Mitra, it was decided that the club will be transformed to a public limited company, but the process will be started only after looking into the legal matters of it. "We have decided to change the club to a public limited one; we have to take a legal opinion about the matter as advised by Anjan, Debashish and Tumpai (Srinjoy Bose)," said the President.

Not only that, he vested the power of the matter in the hands of the new committee which will start operating in a next few days. Regarding the matter, he said, "I have advised the committee that the new committee should be given the responsibility to legally change the status of the club to public limited."

The Kolkata giants were struck by the financial crisis and many players were not paid their dues at the end of the season. Denied of support from the top management and the inability to pay the salaries compelled as many as 19 members to resign from the executive committee, but things were solved on the arrival of the Swapan Sadhan Bose.
