I-League 2nd Division 2018 : Real Kashmir held by Pune City Reserves while FC Kerala register a win against Madhya Bharat FC

Day 4 of the I-League

Day 4 of I-League 2nd Division saw Southerners FC Kerala register a comfortable win over Madhya Bharat SC while Real Kashmir were held goalless by FC Pune City Reserves.

Match 1 : Real Kashmir 0-0 FC Pune City Reserves

Real Kashmir held Pune City reserves to a goalless draw at the TRC Turf Ground in Srinagar with an impressive attendance of 5992 fans. The match started off on a rough note with several flying tackles. Players went into referee's book thick and fast. Nachiket Palav was booked at the four-minute mark. Sajid Hossain and Yadav Rahul were the ones who were booked in the first half. The first half was largely a cagey affair with both sides involved in a prolonged midfield battle.

The second half kicked off and Pune City pressed hard, but the Real Kashmir defense were successful in containing the Pune City forwards. Wungngayam Muirang became the next player to go into the referee's book.

Kouassi Yao replaced Ifham Tariq as Kashmir FC were looking for the lead. Pune City made their first change as Jakob Vanlalhimpuia replaced Sajid Hossain, who was not effective in the second half. The play continued on similar lines of the first half as no team could break the deadlock.

Real Kashmir will now face Delhi Dynamos Reserves at the same venue on 24th March while Pune City reserves will face Lonestar Kashmir on 25th March at the same venue as well.

Match 2 : FC Kerala 3-0 Madhya Bharat SC

FC Kerala registered a comprehensive win over Madhya Bharat SC at the Corporation Stadium, Thrissur. The game was attended by 1000 fans. FC Kerala looked the better side in the initial moments with pacy play from the flanks which troubled the Madhya Bharat defence at regular intervals. Sreyas put FC Kerala into the lead at the 23-minute mark. Alhassan Dahir made it 2-0 in favour of the hosts.

Madhya Bharat created some anxious moments in the FC Kerala box but failed to find the net. The Kerala defence stood strong and the teams went into the break level pegging.

The second half saw an improved Madhya Bharat side looking to reduce the deficit. Incisive balls were floated into the 18-yard box by Madhya Bharat midfielders but the Kerala defence calmly handled the situation and cleared every dangerous looking ball to safety.

Al-Hassan Dahir made it 3-0 in the 86th minute and put the game to bed as the referee blew the final whistle.

FC Kerala will now face FC Goa Reserves on 31st March at the Bambolim Stadium, Goa while Madhya Bharat SC will face Kerala Blasters Reserves on 25th March in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi.
