Local outfits South United FC lost their opening match to Luangmal FC 4-3.

In the opening match Vasco SC were held to a 1-1 draw by Southern Samity. It was Emmanuel Chinew (32′) who gave Vasco SC the lead, 13 minutes later Sothern Samity equalised through a goal by David Ngaithe (45′), with both teams failing to score in the second half.

In the other match of the day, Luangmual FC edged South United FC Pvt. Ltd. 4-3. Chencho had given the Mizoram-based side the lead in the 11th minute which was leveled by South United’s Amoes through a penalty just six minutes later.

Luangmual regained their lead in the 20th minute when B. Lalrawngbawla headed in a C. Lalrosanga free-kick that rival goalkeeper Harpreet failed to claim. Four minutes later, however, Stephen managed to score the equaliser.

Another goalkeeping error by the South United custodian allowed Lalruatdika to put his side ahead for the third time in the 35th minute, while B. Zoramthara beat substitute keeper Rasakh to give Luangmual a two-goal cushion in the 57th minute.

South United tried to fight back but could only reply with a late goal scored off a flag-kick by Jayanta Raj Banshi in the 83rd minute.

Hope SUFC will be back with a much spirited performance by the whole team when they play Vasco SC on Wednesday.
