Interaction with Roberto Carlos and Florent Malouda: Unbeaten home record a source of confidence for Delhi

Delhi Dynamos have managed to remain unbeaten at home in the second season of the Hero ISL so far. While the record itself sounds immaculate, a cause of worry for the Roberto Carlos coached franchisee would be the incapability of controlling games. Even in their fixture against Mumbai City FC, they levelled in the final minute of added time.

The gaffer in his pre-match interaction with the media though played down concerns and emphasised how the margins do not matter as long his team keeps winning. Also present at the meet was Florent Malouda.

Excerpts from the interaction:

Q. India beat Guam in Bangalore day before; will the national team players who were involved there be considered for game against Kolkata?

Carlos: Robin Singh, yes. Rest, I am not so sure.

Q. Did you manage to see the match?

Carlos: Yes, much better than the last one. Shows when the team is united and they work as a team, the result is much better.

Q. Coach, teams are coming with a defensive mindset- how are you tackling that?

Carlos: I don’t play defensively. Its just that you have to position yourself well. I don’t mind the other team being defensive. What matters to me is my team, their motivation, their eagerness to win and obviously we want to get to the playoffs as soon as possible. We have to win the home game.

Q. Florent, You have played every minute in the ISL. What do you make of that?

Malouda: I mean, for me it’s normal to play every three days. I prefer playing many games. I think travel is difficult but otherwise we are on the pitch, it’s not a problem at all. It’s a pleasure for me to be able to play. It will be better in the upcoming games because there was a lot of heat and humidity in the opening games, but it is much better now.

Q. You have been switching in the attack. Who will we see tomorrow?

Carlos: Tomorrow, I am considering starting Nabi with Robin Singh. I have to win tomorrow so I will see tomorrow. I will position the team better so Robin and Nabi can play together.

Q. Will you play?

Carlos: Maybe. It’s possible. For me, I feel very happy when I am playing.

Q. Postiga is back in the team, so do you feel extra pressure?

Carlos: I’m happy that he is back. He’s a very good player. For the opponent, it’s a reason to be on alert, but I have brilliant players.
