Chhangte and Mawihimingthanga will be training with Liverpool for a month

Indian football fans have some good news after the Indian National Team confirmed that the duo of Lallianzuala Chhangte and Jerry Mawihimingthanga will have a one-month training stint at Liverpool FC.

The Indian National football team on their facebook page confirmed the development, the post said:

Jerry Mawihimingthanga and Lallianzuala Chhangte will be attending a one-month training stint at Liverpool FC, and not a trial at the reserve side. This has been organised by DSK-Liverpool International Academy gaffer Dave Rogers who sees potential in the boys.

Even if it was to be a trial, it would be highly unlikely that they could play for the reds considering the British Immigration Permissions. They would probably be loaned out to a sister or developmental club somewhere else in Europe.

Due to this training stint, it is highly unlikely that they be featured in the NT squad against Iran and Turkmenistan.

This comes as good news for Indian football and more exposure to such top clubs will ensure that Indian players and Indian football in general improves.

Lallianzuala Chhangte has already impressed for the national side

Chhangte who is just 18 has already appeared for the national squad thrice with his debut coming in the 2015 SAAF Championship.

Chhangte made a good impression in the tournament scoring twice in India’s 4-1 win over Nepal. The youngster is highly regarded in India and he is considered to be the next big hope of Indian football. A training stint with one of the giants of English football will definitely do him good.

Indians will be hoping that Chhangte and Mawihimingthanga will make use of the experience and really kick on to greater heights.
