It's D-Day! the inaugural edition of the Hero Indian Super Cup kicks off and the buzz around it is building up and how! India’s premier knock-out tournament will pit the teams from the I-League and the ISL against each other for the first time.

The I-League saw Minerva Punjab take the trophy home while on the other hand, Chennaiyin FC rejoiced their second ISL title after defeating Bengaluru FC in a fiercely-contested final at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, in Bengaluru.

With some top sides qualifying for the competition, it will surely be a treat to watch who comes out triumphant and takes the splendid prize home.

The opening fixture of the competition will witness freshly crowned ISL champions, Chennaiyin FC take on North East giants Aizawl FC at 8 pm on Saturday. While the Supermachans will be looking for a domestic double, Aizawl will certainly not make the contest easy for Gregory’s army.

John Gregory will be relying on his star frontman, Jeje Lalpekhlua to get an early lead into the game while Andrei Ionescu will be a lethal threat from Aizawl. The Romanian attacking midfielder has played a key role in Aizawl’s I-League campaign and will have his eyes set on registering his name on the scoresheet.
