Indian U-16 beat Germany's SV Wacker Burghausen 4-0

The Indian U-16’s put up yet another brilliant performance to overpower Germany’s SV Wacker Burghausen 4-0 in a friendly in Germany. The youngsters have been on a tour of Europe to prepare ahead of their AFC Championship qualifier in Iran.

Coming on the back of an exceptional comeback against Austrian side AKA Tirol, where the team came from 2-0 down to draw the game, the colts began the game in style scoring the 3rd minute of the game. Komal, who scored the first goal against Tirol, got at the end of a perfect cross from Boris to hand the youngsters the lead.

The youngsters looked up for the challenge and were keen on not letting their hosts settle into the game. Just four minutes later, India doubled their lead when the ball fell kindly for Ninthoiganba, who smashed the ball into the net.

India kept the pressure on throughout the half but went into the break with the scoreboard reflecting the same score. During the tour, this was one of the best first-half performance that the youngsters had come up with.

India double their lead in the second half

Nicolai Adam, assistant manager to Stephen Constantine and the head coach for the U-16’s, made a host of changes in the second half, bringing on Samsher, Sharif, Ajaruddin, Lalrintluanga for Nawaz, Susmit, Gaston, Suresh. Komal also had to make way for the hero of the last game Rahul.

India started where they had left off in the first half, controlling the tempo of the game. In the 65th minute, Rahul turned provider putting in a delightful ball for Aniket, with the latter showing great composure to finish off the move to hand the young Indians a 3-0 lead.

Aniket doubled his tally for the game in the 84th minute to take the score up to 4-0. The U-16 team’s two-month tour of Europe has been a huge success playing against European youth teams. This is the team will represent India in the U-17 World Cup that India will host in 2017.
