Indian women’s football legend Bembem Devi inspires Maldives club New Radiant to success

Legendary Indian women footballer Bembem Devi starred for New Radiant as they defeated MNDF 4-1 in the final to clinch the women’s football championship in Maldives on Saturday.

Bembem Devi scored a brace in the final and also finished as the top scorer of the tournament with six goals in three games. Bembem also bagged four assists in the competition and was adjudged as the player of the tournament.

The 34-year-old from Manipuri won the AIFF women’s footballer of the year accolade in 2013 and the midfielder will be looking to guide India to a hattrick of SAFF Championship titles later this year in Pakistan.
