Karanjit Singh - 5/10

He will feel he could have done better for Vadocz's goal, but apart from that, he made a few big saves.

Mehrajuddin Wadoo - 0/10

Wadoo had a dreadful game. His passing was awful; crossing was diabolical, and Chhetri ran rings around him, ensuring he did nothing on the defensive side either. For a man who has played every minute this season, and a player as experienced as he is; better was expected on what was a big occasion for Chennaiyin to keep their hopes alive.

Eli Sabia - 4/10

Forlan and Chhetri troubled the big Brazilian. At the other end, he had chances from two Riise free kicks that he missed.

Bernard Mendy - 5/10

Mendy stood tall but got no support from his teammates. It would not be far-fetched to call Mendy Chennaiyin’s best player on what was otherwise a miserable day at work for the champions.

John Arne Riise - 5/10

He put some decent crosses in, but Defederico ran him ragged. Defensively, his lack of pace was there for all to see, as he just could not keep up with the skill, the pace and the trickery of Defederico.

Harmanjot Khabra - 3/10

None of the qualities that made him one of Materazzi's favourites in the first two seasons was to be seen. Today, the Italian manager was only left frustrated as Khabra tried to do things out of the ordinary when keeping it simple and bringing in the more skilful players into play might have been the right thing to do.

Zakeer Mundampara - 4/10

His role was to break up Mumbai's attacking play, but Mumbai passed the ball through him. He was substituted in the 58th minute.

Hans Mulder - 5/10

Mulder's passing was off the mark by quite a distance today. In a changed Chennaiyin system, he found no joy whatsoever.

Raphael Augusto - 3/10

He played a little deeper in midfield than in recent games and was quieter than he has been in recent games. He had been the single most important player for Chennaiyin in their recent games due to his eagerness to get forward to support Succi, but the big no. 9 was left isolated today.

Jayesh Rane - 5/10

He beat Ralte with skill on a fair few occasions, but his balls into the box were awful. In truth, Jayesh was not helped by the fact that he got zero support from his full back as Wadoo himself was having a terrible game.

Davide Succi - 5/10

It was not the best of nights for Davide Succi

Succi got absolutely no help with the midfielders leaving him isolated against the whole Mumbai defence. It didn’t help him that Goian, who has arguably been the best defender this season was in the opposition and did not give him a sniff. He was reduced to taking long shots which didn’t trouble Amrinder at all.

Substitutes

Daniel Lalhlimpuia - 5/10

Riise and him combined well, but much like the whole Chennaiyin performance, Daniel too fell short.

Dudu Omagbemi - 4/10

He threw himself about, but that was pretty much it.
