Defending champions ATK could be on the verge of sacking manager Teddy Sheringham, after the club churned out a string of poor performances in the ongoing ISL season.

Sheringham, who had made appearances for English giants Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in his playing days, has reportedly not been able to impress the club management this season.

Although the sacking has not yet been confirmed by the club, sources close to the team have revealed to Sportskeeda that an announcement on the same is expected in the next couple of days.

ATK, who are the most successful team in the history of the tournament, are having, what could be described as their worst season till date, as they are placed eighth on the table that contains a total of 10 teams.

Sheringham had been brought on as the manager for the club ahead of the ongoing season, with Ashley Westwood taking over the role of the Director of football at the Sourav Ganguly-co-owned franchise.

Now, the former Bengaluru FC boss seems poised to take over the dugout at the Salt Lake Stadium in their next match against Chennaiyin FC, on Thursday.

However, not all went well for the Red and Whites this season, as star striker Robbie Keane has mostly been sitting out due to injury. The 2014 and 2016 champions have looked out of sorts without the presence of their iconic striker, and have managed to win only three of their 10 matches so far.
