Fans of Chennaiyin FC have joined together to wish their star man Jeje Lalpekhlua. On the 12th minute of their match against Delhi Dynamos on Sunday, the stands at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai rang out with the “Happy birthday, Jeje” chant.

They had also orchestrated this in such a manner, so as to wish their favourite striker on the 12th minute (12 being the kit number that the 'Mizo Sniper' wears).

Delhi Dynamos had taken the initiative to score the early goal through Ngaihte, but these chants from the Super Machans faithful spurred Jeje went on to score two goals on either side of half-time to put the home side in the lead. However, Delhi pulled the game back to level terms in the end through a Guyon Fernandez goal.

Jeje had a memorable end to 2017 as he was voted the 'Fans’ Player of the Month' with a whopping 47% of the votes. After a slow start to the new ISL season, Jeje has come into a rich vein of form and has been crucial to his side’s high-flying performances in this year’s tournament. He has also been one of the key players for the Indian national team, playing alongside iconic captain Sunil Chhetri.

Jeje has also had a successful stint with Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan, with whom he had won the I-League and the Federation Cups under manager Sanjoy Sen. However, it is the ISL, where Jeje is yet to lift the coveted trophy, which he will be looking to do with the Super Machans this season.
