FC Goa had taken a 2-1 lead at the end of the first half after dominating play as Mumbai sat back and defended. The second half began with a red card for FC Goa when Seriton Fernandes was shown his second yellow for a foul on Everton Santos.

Mumbai City FC used the extra man's advantage well and took the lead with two goals from Emana and Thiago Santos but Coro was there again to equalise for the home side. At the end, Balwant Singh stepped up and put the pressure on the Gaurs to grab the winner to clinch the three points for the Islanders.

FC Goa started the game brightly and was controlling the tempo of the match with their short and quick passing in the middle of the park. Ahmed Jahouh, Edu Bedia and Manuel Lanzarote were running rings around the Mumbai defence and midfield as Brandon and Mandar attacked from the wings.

Goa's dominance paid off in the end when Corominas got past a couple of Mumbai players and put Mandar Rao Desai through on the left. Desai took a powerful shot that was saved by Amrinder Singh but the rebound fell for Corominas, who pounced on it and scored for the Gaurs. This goal was Corominas' 11th goal in the competition and now he leads the top scorers' standings in the ISL.

Balwant Singh made a good run on the right flank and cut inside the box and tried to find Achille Emana inside the box. The Cameroonian was not able to control the ball but laid it off for Thiago Santos, who took a shot from the edge of the box and his effort deflected off Everton Santos into the goal. FC Goa keeper Laxmikant Kattimani had no chance of saving it and he was rooted to the spot.

The Gaurs suffered a setback when their right-back Seriton Fernandes was booked for the second time in the match and sent off in the 48th minute.
