What's the story?

ATK's injury woes appeared to be stalling any hopes of repeating their supreme success from last season, but it now seems that there may be some good news on the horizon. The Kolkata-based side has failed to win any of their two matches so far. With their prospects seemingly slim, they will be bolstered by the return of attacker Jayesh Rane that he may be fit in time for the next round of ISL matches.

In case you didn't know...

Rane missed the first few games through injury, owing to a knock he suffered in pre-season training with the club. His absence was a major miss for the Bengal outfit, especially since marquee signing Robbie Keane was already out with injury and new signing Carl Baker faced the same fate.

The heart of the matter

The news of Jayesh Rane's recovery from injury was confirmed on his Instagram page, where, in a live video, the former Aizawl FC player revealed that he was on the verge of getting back to full fitness and would be available for selection in the ATK first team in around a week.

Rane has been a key player in the ISL, having played for Chennayin FC in the past three seasons. His significant contributions helped Aizawl FC script history in the latest edition of the I-League.

What's next?

ATK face Jamshedpur FC in their next match and while they will have to do without the services of Rane in this game, they will hope that their morale is high thanks to the welcoming news of his impending return.

Author's take

Rane's loss through injury was devastating for ATK and for the entire Indian football scene since his talent has shone through lately. His return will be welcomed with open arms by all involved at ATK.
