What’s the story?

Kerala Blasters are all set to welcome their latest signing to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in Kochi, as Ugandan midfielder Kizito Keziron has arrived in Kochi, to join the team during the ongoing ISL 2017 season.

In case you didn’t know…

Kerala Blasters have amassed a rather formidable squad over the preseason, with a number of foreign and Indian stars donning the famous yellow jersey. The likes of Iain Hume Nemanja Pesic, and former Manchester United stars Wes Brown and Dimitar Berbatov have all signed with the Kochi-based outfit for the season.

Heart of the matter

Now, their signing of Kizito also seems to be looming large, after an image of the Ugandan attacking midfielder in the Kerala Blasters training kit, along with Blasters defender Wes Brown was leaked on the internet.

Kizito is an attacking midfielder, who can play in any of the three positions behind the central striker – left or right wing, or in the no. 10 role, behind the striker. The 23-year-old had previously played in Portugal with Alaves, before making a move to Politehnica Iasi in the Romanian top tier.

He has not been as prolific for the Romanian outfit this season, though, getting only 13 appearances, out of which he scored only two goals and provided three assists.

What’s next?

However, it is unlikely that Kizito will get to start in coach Rene Meulensteen’s side immediately, as the move would not officially happen till the transfer market opens in January 2018.

Author’s take

Kerala Blasters have had some problems going forward, despite having some star-studded attacker like Hume, Berbatov and CK Vineeth in their lineup. Both the matches that they have played this season have ended in 0-0 draws, and the side looks like it needs some attacking impetus. With the addition of Kizito, this problem could be solved to some extent.
