What's the story

Kerala Blasters have done it yet again! The Kochi-based club has registered the highest average attendance in ISL 2017 so far. Meanwhile, FC Pune City topped the charts for the highest average attendance for away fans.

In case you didn't know

The Kerala Blasters fans are known to be fiercely loyal to their side, and throng to the stadium in thousands. While the Yellow brigade used to register higher attendances in the previous season, the same has dropped a bit this year, as the capacity of the stadium has been reduced after renovations for the FIFA U17 World Cup, which took place, earlier this year.

The heart of the matter

In the home matches category, Kerala are the runaway leaders with a total of 109,606, according to statistics by WorldFootball.net. In case of average attendance too, the Blasters lead the charts with recording 36,535 fans per match.

ATK, who have played only one match so far, come in second on this list as they have registered an attendance of 32,816 in their home game against FC Pune City.

In the away matches, Pune have an average of 28,365 and a total of 56,729. ATK are second with an average of 26,182 and a total of 78,545. Kerala, however, are a bit behind in this sector at 5th with an average attendance of 18,482. However, they have only had one away match so far.

What's next?

The season is long so these figures are not set in stone. They can still change but with the kind of passion that Kerala has for football, it is likely that they will remain on top for a while.

Sportskeeda's take

With Kerala Blasters having already registered high attendances in the past seasons, it is no surprise that they are topping the charts yet again. The passion that they have shown for their side has been unparalleled in ISL so far, and it would be interesting to see whether any other clubs can challenge the Yellow Brigade in terms of numbers.
