2018 seems to have ushered in a revolutionary new trend in Indian football. After Kerala Blasters head coach Rene Meulensteen and Mohun Bagan boss Sanjoy Sen parted ways with their respective clubs on Tuesday night, the same fate seems to be looming large for NorthEast United FC head coach Joao De Deus.

Unhappy with the performances, the club is said to have already taken the decision to sack De Deus and his support staff, according to sources close to the management.

When Sportskeeda contacted one of the club officials regarding this issue, the official did not confirm, nor deny De Deus’ sacking. However, the NEUFC official did say that “management is doing something”.

However, our sources close to the club suggest that De Deus has already been sacked, and the only reason why the club has not made it official as of yet is that they are still ironing-out the contractual details and the reimbursements that the head coach and his staff are to receive from the club.

NUEFC have been on poor form throughout the ISL 2017 season, having managed just one win from seven matches. They currently lie second from bottom on the table.

With five losses already under his belt, De Deus has failed to deliver on his pre-season promises that his side will play an attacking brand of football, that will see one of the Highlanders’ attackers becoming the top scorer in the league. Instead, they have managed to score just two goals so far this season.
