Indian Super League: Top 10 goals from ISL-4

Indian Super League is entering into its fifth year this time and the most awaited season 5 will commence on September 29, as the two time defending champions ATK will host Kerala Blasters at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in the opening fixture of the season.

The quality of football has only gotten better with time since the tournament's inception in 2014. The last four years of the tournament have witnessed some of the greatest footballing stars like Dimitar Berbatov, Elano and Roberto Carlos. And there has been no scarcity of world-class goals in the tournament as all of us witnessed some unforgettable goals from Bernard Mendy, Iain Hume and Sushanth Mathew.

As the recent ISL season 5 promo conveys, the tournament is continually closing the gap of the quality of football between India and European nations and all it needs now is the support and love from the football fans.

As the new season approaches, we take a look at the best goals from ISL season 4 showcasing some of the finest footballing art to get ourselves prepared to see some more jaw-dropping goals this year.

#10 Lallianzuala Chhangte - Delhi Dynamos (vs FC Pune City, Match 5)

Delhi Dynamos were off to a flying start in the beginning weeks of the season. In match 5, as they were hosted by FC Pune City, one of the goals came from Lallianzuala Chhangte in the second half after a heavy touch by FCPC defender Gurtej and a defensive mistake by Rafa Lopez. Chhangte beat Vishal Kaith with a cheeky finish.

#9. Jackichand Singh - Kerala Blasters (vs FC Pune City - Match 62)

Long range shots complete any list of best goals, and hence here's one from Jackichand Singh. Jackichand scored the opening goal for travelling Kerala team as he silenced the orange army, who once used to cheer for the former FC Pune City Employee.

Jackichand beat Vishal Kaith with a precise top corner finish and helped Kerala clinch a 2-1 victory over Pune.

#8. Thiago Santos - Mumbai City FC (vs Jamshedpur - Match 39)

Any goal compilation is likely to have some Brazilian magic in it more often than not, and so is this! Thiago Santos and Everton Santos, the Brazilian duo had a fair share of MCFC's goal tally with Thiago scoring 5 for the Islanders.

This one comes from match 39, as the newcomers Jamshedpur FC hosted Mumbai and Thiago opened the scoring in minute 24 as he scored his 3rd goal of the campaign. Unfortunately for Santos, Mumbai could not fully benefit from his brace in the game as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

#7. Miku - Bengaluru FC (vs FC Goa - Match 12)

FC Goa hosted Bengaluru FC and one of the most entertaining matches of the season which ended 4-3 in Goa's favour. Goa was leading the 10 men Bengaluru side by 3 goals to 2 before Miku equalized for the travellers in 60' with a sublime finish and beating the goalkeeper and a couple of defenders in the process.

#6. Manuel Lanzarote - FC Goa (vs ATK - Match 85)

Manuel Lanzarote and Coro were a deadly duo for the Gaurs and played a crucial part in taking the team to the playoffs. Lanzarote scored 13 goals in his 19 appearances. One of his goals came in match 85 against ATK in minute 21. A delightful cross from Pronay from left wing perfectly found Lanzarote who made the most of it by giving a 3 goal lead to the home side. ATK was beaten by 5 goals to 1.

#5. Manuel Lanzarote - FC Goa (vs Chennaiyin FC - Match 3)

Lanzarote announced himself to the ISL just in the 3rd game of the tournament as he scored score with a cheeky finish against Chennaiyin. The hosts were 1-0 down with a goal from Corominas in minute 25. Just 4 minutes after the first goal for FC Goa, Lanzarote beat almost half the Chennaiyin team in the box with delightful finish giving the Gaurs a 2-0 lead.

The travellers beat the eventual champions 2-3.

#4. Sunil Chhetri - Bengaluru Fc (vs ATK - Match 42)

How can a Sunil Chhetri goal not make it to the list! The Indian skipper had one of the finest seasons of his career as he scored 14 goals of 21 matches for Bengaluru. Along with his goal in the final and a hat-trick in the semifinal against Pune, he scored some of the finest goals in the league too.

The Indian talisman scored a remarkable long ranger against ATK in minute 42, which was a contender for goals of the season.

#3. Ferran Corominas - FC Goa (vs Bengaluru FC - Match 12)

Another goal from a seven-goal thriller match 12 makes it to the list. The top scorer of ISL season 4 opened the scorecard against the season finalist in minute 16 as he beat the entire defense line to score a sensational solo goal.

The 35-year-old Spaniard ended with an 18 goal tally for the season, highest by any player in one season in the tournament history.

#2. CK Vineeth - Kerala Blasters (vs FC Pune City - Match 62)

Another stunner from match 62 came in the dying moments of the game as the home side FC Pune City were stunned by a long ranger from CK Vineeth in the 93rd minute. The goal launched a tremor in the away stand full of the 12th man Manjappadas and silenced the entire stadium. The goal helped KBFC win by 2-1 and kept their playoff hopes alive.

#1.Wellington Priori - Jamshedpur FC (vs NorthEast United FC - Match 69)

And some more South American magic to end it all! The Best goal of the season came from the Brazilian from Jamshedpur FC. The 28-year-old midfielder surprised everyone as he scored an astonishing bicycle kick on a half-volley. The hosts beat the Highlanders with the help of the only goal scored by Priori.
